Your dashboard tour

Getting startedWhat every tile on the home dashboard means.

Your dashboard tour

The dashboard is the first thing you see after signing in, and it's the page you'll come back to most often. This is a quick walk through every tile, top to bottom.

A note on roles: accountants see the first set of tiles. Managers and admins see those plus three extra tiles for firm-wide work. We'll flag the manager-only ones as we go.

The running-timer banner

A gold banner across the top of the dashboard shows the client (and project, if any), the elapsed time, and a Stop button whenever a timer is running. When nothing's running, the banner is replaced by a quieter strip that just says "No timer running" with a Start timer button.

While a timer is running, you'll also see a small timer chip in the page header showing elapsed time. The chip is informational, to stop the timer, use the Stop button on the dashboard banner.

Get the desktop app

Right below the timer banner is a one-line card linking to the desktop downloads page. The desktop adds a tray-icon timer, a 10-minute idle prompt, and the long-running flag. It's optional, everything works in the browser.

Today

Your hours today, as a large number, with the count of entries underneath. Aggregated from your stopped, submitted, approved, and locked entries (the running timer doesn't count until you stop it).

This week

Your week-to-date total, with last week's total shown for comparison ("Last week: 12.5 h"). Useful for catching weeks where you're trending light or heavy.

Top clients

Your top clients this month by hours, as a short ranked list (up to five). Clients with no time logged this month don't appear.

Recent entries

Your last five non-running entries, newest first, showing the client name, the duration, and the status pill.

Needs attention

A short list of alerts on your own entries. Three kinds show up:

  • Long-running, duration crossed your firm's threshold (8 hours by default).
  • Rejected by manager, sent back to stopped with a reason; review and resubmit.
  • Stopped over 7 days ago, sitting around unsubmitted; submit or delete.

Click any row to jump to Time entries filtered to just those entries, with the matching rows highlighted. See Long-running entries for more on the LONG flag.

Quick actions

Four buttons across one row:

  • Start timer, opens the start-timer modal.
  • Manual entry, links to the Time entries page. The manual-entry form itself isn't built yet (see Logging time after the fact).
  • All entries, jumps to Time entries.
  • Run report, opens the Reports page.

Active sessions

A list of every device you're currently signed in on, with a sign-out icon for each one. See Active sessions.

Manager-only tiles

If you're a manager or admin, the tile grid keeps going with three more.

Pending approvals

The count of entries waiting on you to approve, with the age of the oldest one ("Oldest 4h ago"). A Review queue → button jumps to the Approvals page.

Firm activity today

The firm's total hours logged today, plus a short list of the top three accountants for the day. Useful for a morning glance at whether the team is logging.

Unbilled inventory

The total approved-but-not-yet-locked hours across the firm, with the entry count. A View report → button jumps to Reports. This is your work-in-progress: high numbers near a billing day mean revenue to capture.

Accountants don't see any of these three. If you're an accountant wondering where they are, that's why.
