Signing in

Getting startedWeb sign-in, demo mode, and what the dev login buttons do.

Signing in

TAB lives at your firm's TAB URL (in production, tab.gbossone.com). This article covers the web sign-in. The desktop app has its own first-launch flow, see Signing in on the desktop for that.

Two sign-in modes

Your firm's TAB instance runs in one of two modes. You'll see the difference on the login page right away.

Demo mode

If you're trying TAB out before your firm has wired it into the GBOSS Platform, you're in demo mode. On the login page you'll see:

  • A Sign in with GBOSS Platform button that's disabled, with a tooltip explaining demo mode.
  • Two Dev login buttons: Admin view and Accountant view.

Click whichever role you want to explore as. TAB drops you onto the dashboard with a session for that role. No password, no redirect, no real account.

Demo mode is for testing, sales demos, and early evaluation. Real customer environments hide the dev buttons. If you signed in this way at a live firm, something is misconfigured, flag it to your admin.

Platform mode

A real, live TAB instance runs in platform mode. The login page has a single Sign in with GBOSS Platform button.

  1. Click Sign in with GBOSS Platform.
  2. You'll be redirected to IBM App ID, the identity provider GBOSS uses across the suite. If you're already signed into another GBOSS app today, this step is silent, App ID recognises you and bounces you straight back.
  3. If not, sign in with your work email and password (or your firm's SSO provider if your admin set that up).
  4. App ID redirects you back to TAB and you land on the dashboard.

If you get an "App not provisioned for this user" error, your admin hasn't added you to TAB yet in the Platform console. Ask them to provision you for the tab app.

How long your session lasts

Once you've signed in, your session persists for 7 days. You can close the browser, come back tomorrow, and you'll still be signed in. After 7 days you'll be sent back to the login page and through App ID again.

If you sign in on a second device (work laptop and home laptop, say), both sessions stay active. Admins can see and revoke individual sessions, see Active sessions.

Signing out

  1. Click your user avatar in the top-right corner of any page.
  2. Pick Sign out from the menu.

You'll land back on the login page. The session token is cleared from this browser; other devices are unaffected.

Forgotten your password?

TAB doesn't manage passwords directly, IBM App ID does. From the App ID sign-in screen, click Forgot password? and follow the email link. Your TAB account isn't touched; you'll be back to where you were as soon as the password reset completes.
